Welcome
T
he District of Columbia Defense Force (DCDF) Association welcomes you and thanks you for your interest.
The District of Columbia's earliest citizen soldiers were militiamen who defended Washington during the War of 1812. Later, volunteers stood by our Union in the War Between the States and served as a home guard during World War I.
Although the District of Columbia Defense Force Association was not established until the fall of 2005, we are proud to be adding to that rich and honorable heritage of service.
The DCDF is Acknowledged ...
Former District of Columbia Mayor Anthony A. Williams declared October 26, 2006, as "District of Columbia Defense Force Day" in Washington, DC. Click here to read the Mayor's proclamation.
The District of Columbia
Defense Force Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation whose members
are unpaid, uniformed volunteers, operating as the DC
Defense Force and serving the District of Columbia as a crisis/emergency
response and community service organization.
The DC Defense Force is not a government entity, nor is it a state defense force as defined by Chapter 32 Section 109 (c) of the United States Code. The DCDF is a purely local organization, and its operations are limited primarily to within the District of Columbia.
We invite you to become a member of the DCDF Association and District of Columbia Defense Force. Whether you are male or female, young or old, have served in the military or have no prior service, you will find missions and activities that are challenging, rewarding and enjoyable.
Service and response. There's something for everyone who wants to make the District of Columbia a better place to live, work or visit.
